Grounded in Gratitude: Moonlit Rituals

The past few years, I’ve started each morning by listing five things I’m grateful for. Just five small anchors, sometimes as simple as my cup of coffee, the cozy warmth of my sheets, or how peaceful I feel. This practice has become a quiet, grounding ritual before I dive into my journal. It sets the tone for the day, focusing on being present in the now and reminding me that abundance often hides in plain sight.

Alongside this, I’ve been exploring full moon rituals after talking to some friends about it. I’m always looking for new ways to connect with my spirit in efforts to find tranquility from the chaotic world we live in. There’s something magical about stepping outside at night, sometimes barefoot on the earth, under the glow of the moon. Sometimes I light a candle and simply breathe. I release what no longer serves me and set intentions with mindfulness. These moments under the moon remind me that everything moves in cycles, and that clarity often comes in quiet stillness.

Last nights ritual was even more special because my granddaughter joined me. We enjoyed time together while each of us wrote down long lists of things that we were grateful for, then made hot chocolate and headed outside. And, with a warm fire blazing in the fire pit under the beautiful clear sky and bright full moon, we burned our lists and thanked our loving Creator.

Being grounded has deepened my connection to myself and the natural world. It relieves me of the disconnection I feel when I become a bit too connected to technology and preoccupying myself with to-do lists. Reconnecting with nature offers a powerful way for me to step back and breathe and gain clarity. It’s essential for me. These rituals don’t take much time. Just presence. Just intention. And a willingness to show up with an open heart and some self-love.
